Artist Residency in Vienna (July–August 2026)

The Almaty Museum of Arts (ALMA), in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, MuseumsQuartier Wien (MQ) and the Weltmuseum Wien, is pleased to announce a research residency for one artist from Kazakhstan at the MuseumsQuartier Wien.

This month, as part of our museumwide “Artist Spotlight: Abdirashit Sydykhanov” program, we are following in this experimental artist’s footsteps and exploring symbols and textures. In this workshop, we will first design our own, family or personal, tañbas (clan symbols). Then we will adorn our tañbas with grains and paint, just like Sydykhanov did in his works.
