Has the dombra evolved? And what of the küy? A lecture by Zholaushi Turdugulov: "The standardization of the dombra"

The Almaty Museum of Arts is set to host its first-ever Museum Night! The program features an insightful lecture, a musical performance by German Popov, the Aşyq Şeberhana art workshop, and the Nobai drawing club.

Between 15 and 17 May, Almaty Museum of Arts will present a series of events marking the finissage of the exhibition I Understand Everything by Almagul Menlibayeva. The schedule comprises tours guided by the artist, public discussions, film screenings, and diverse activities.

This talk by Antonina Stebur, curator of the upcoming transmediale 2027 anniversary exhibition in Berlin, begins from a simple question: what does curating do when infrastructures no longer hold?

This month, in our Januyalyq jeksenbі (Kaz. Family Sunday) all-ages workshop, we will follow in Almagul Menlibayeva’s footsteps and create our own magical grattage paintings: first applying layers of color and then scratching our intricate designs into the surface.
